He could not accept the "betrayal" of the woman he was in a relationship with.
In order to take revenge, the Albanian pastry chef Dritan Demiraj had implemented a diabolical plan, which culminated in a double murder: that of Silvio Mannina, (the ex-girlfriend's partner) whom he had tortured and killed on the evening of February 28, 2014, after lured him into a trap in Rimini and that of his former partner Lidia Nusdorfi, massacred the next day with 11 stab wounds in the underpass of the Mozzate station, in the Como area.
Italian media reports that 10 years after the terrible crime, Demiaj died in a hospital bed.
He had ended up there eight years earlier, after being punched and kicked by a Romanian ex-boxer, in the corridors of the prison, and had never left the hospital since, remaining bedridden with a severe deficit in memory and due to irreversible brain damage.
Due to his clinical conditions, the murderer was declared "incapable of understanding and the will of the Court" and in 2017 he was officially released.
For the family members of Demiraj (who was defended by the lawyer Massimiliano Orrù) the way can now be opened for a possible request for compensation for the beating he suffered in prison.
