For almost a week, miners at the Spaç copper mine have been boycotting work, demanding better conditions and respect for their rights.
In an interview with "A2 CNN", the president of the Confederation of Trade Unions, Kol Nikolla, said that the situation in the mine is alarming and that the workers are under constant pressure.
"The Confederation has been informed about the situation since July. The workers are unhappy and there is a kind of rape by the employer, regarding their salaries and dignity. We have tried to negotiate, but it has been impossible, because he only knows manipulation and blackmail. These are past standards that should no longer exist," declared Nikolla.
On the other hand, miner Albert Bushpreni showed the difficulties faced by workers, who until now have been without union protection.
"We work without being organized in a union, only with individual contracts. The employer can throw us out on the street whenever he wants. We organized in a union so that we have a legal basis, because with these contracts he plays with the fate of the employees. He fired me in the middle of a shift, on empty pretexts and in violation of the law ," said Bushpreni.
