A preliminary hearing is being held at the GJKKO for the SASPAK file, where former minister Ilir Beqaj is facing charges of passive corruption in his capacity as the General Director of SASPAC. The hearing is being held behind closed doors.
In his speech before the court, Beqaj categorically denied the accusations, emphasizing that the Court's decisions pointed out that he is not a high-ranking official, which according to him refutes the accusation of passive corruption in this capacity.
"Although this session is being held behind closed doors, I want to make it clear that the accusation is unfounded. I have been waiting for the court hearing, but yesterday I understood the reasons for this prosecution, after the report of the head of SPAK to the Laws Committee. There are no statistics on senior officials who misuse EU funds and the security measure is disproportionate," said Beqaj.
The former minister added that there are Court decisions that refute this characterization and criticized the lack of action by the High Inspector of Justice.
