The Vlora Sea Port Captaincy has suspended sea navigation for small vessels and fishing vessels, starting this Saturday until Monday.

Also, the Vlora-Brindisi-Vlora ferry line has canceled its scheduled arrival for the following day (January 25), while sailing continues only for international maritime transport ships.

The official announcement states that the reason for the suspension of navigation is the strong coastal wind from the south-southeast, which causes waves up to 2.5 meters high in the bay, while in the open sea, waves up to 4 meters high.

Fishing boats and small craft are unable to navigate due to the height of the waves. Also, the strong coastal wind, which blows at speeds of 25 to 45 meters per second, causes the sea force in the bay to reach 7 force, while in the open sea up to 8 force.

According to the announcement of the captaincy, the ferry line with Brindisi will continue sailing normally. This ferry can withstand a greater sea force than that. The ferry line will continue working normally, with the exception of Sunday, when it has canceled its arrival in Vlora.

It is also announced that the administrators of the floating vehicles must secure these vehicles on the coast to avoid their collision with the port piers, causing material damage. These administrators, as of this Saturday, have started securing the vehicles on the coast.

The hydro-meteorological situation, according to the Vlora Sea Port Captaincy, is expected to improve around 6 a.m. on Monday. After this time, small vessels and fishing vessels will be allowed to go out to sea for navigation.
