Construction of a new market in Vlora, merchants against: Tell Mersin what is

Tensions have increased among merchants in Vlora, who have resisted the order to leave their current workplaces.

They say they will not move until a new and genuine market is built that meets modern conditions.

In a statement to the media, one of the traders' representatives stressed that any move is unacceptable without first guaranteeing a long-term solution.

According to them, the main requirement is the construction of a covered market, which meets all hygiene and sanitary conditions, including running water and toilets.

"We want a proper market. It should be covered, not told to 'get out on the sidewalk'," he told "Syri TV", describing the current situation as intolerable.

Traders argue that moving them to the sidewalks would severely damage Vlora's image as a tourist city.

They criticize the Municipality's management of the situation, questioning the decision-making process of local authorities.

"I don't know who the mayor consults with about these social problems. Have they talked to us?" added their representative, denouncing a decision that came "from above," without any prior consultation.

The traders' stance is firm: there will be no withdrawal until their demands are met. Although they are open and agree with the idea of a new market, they categorically refuse to vacate their spaces without a concrete and dignified alternative, demanding sustainable solutions and not improvised measures.

"We demand that no one move to those places without a proper market being built. Covered, with all the conditions."

This is not the image of Vlora, tourist Vlora. It is intolerable, unforgivable. I don't know who this mayor consults with. Are there advisors there who advise her on these social problems? Have the merchants there talked to us about how you do it? No, not directly, the decision is made by the top and we don't move it. It is an order from above.

"We are not leaving there. We will not leave the market. We agree on a new market," he concluded.
