The Border Police and the Maritime Police Unit have continued the operation within the framework of the tourist season to secure vacationers from the north to the south of the country, blocking 35 vessels during the week that is closing.

An abandoned raft was also found in Ksamil, which turned out to be stolen in Lefkada, Greece, and the perpetrators remain unidentified. Most of the vehicles had violated the security perimeter and were endangering vacationers. During the operations, 19 foreign and Albanian vacationers were also rescued.

"As a result of the monitoring and inspections carried out by Komani in Ksamil, 525 watercraft were inspected during the week, of which 35 were blocked for various violations. Specifically, 22 jet skis, 5 speedboats, 6 dinghies and 2 metal boats with installed water motors," the State Police announced today (August 17).

14 of the vessels were found to be sailing within the security perimeter, endangering the lives of holidaymakers. Their drivers were fined 100,000 lek each.

Also, 19 citizens (Albanian and foreign), and 6 vessels were rescued at sea thanks to the immediate intervention of the Border Police and the Marine Police Unit from Ksamil to Koman.

But during the checks, a stolen dinghy was also found in Lefkada, Greece, as investigations continue to identify and capture the perpetrators.

"The Saranda Border Police, in cooperation with their Greek counterparts, located and blocked outside the security perimeter area on the Pemë e Thatë beach in Ksamil-Saranda, a dinghy stolen in the area called Lefkadha, Greece. Work continues to identify and capture the perpetrators," the police explained.

The Border Police appealed for strict compliance with the rules for the use of watercraft: Do not violate the security perimeter; sail only in permitted areas and equip yourself with the necessary rescue equipment.

"The State Police invites citizens and vacationers to report any violation of navigation rules or the security perimeter to the toll-free number 112, guaranteeing immediate response and concrete measures against any violator," this appeal concludes.
