The American Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, was today for an 8-hour visit to Tirana, during which he met the country's highest authorities and also gave a press conference with Prime Minister Rama.
For analyst Preç Zogaj, his visit and arrival is good for Albania as a NATO member country and combined with the security conference that will be held in Munich.
"Albania is an allied and loyal country of NATO. Since it started on the path of integration into NATO and the EU, it has by definition played a role in the stability of the Balkans. It is a country that does not have conflicts itself, it is the issue of Kosovo, but it is international. It has taken the position of a country that influences stability in the region, which are important issues for American policy in the region.
I think that this was a different visit from the previous visits of the Secretaries of State to Albania. It was short, there was a mix, even to celebrate something. To prove that we are together, we are with you and you are with us. I think it was combined with the conference held in Munich.
The secretary has a lot of work, but it was worth spending seven hours in Albania as well. As I said, one way and two jobs. The agenda was somewhat spontaneous, unlike previous visits that have been announced ahead of time.
Even the embassy itself was not sure if it would come or not. It is set in the future and this is good for Albania", said Zogaj.
