The head of SPAK Altin Dumani, in an analysis of his two-year work as the head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, rejected the opposition's accusations that the institution he leads investigates based on political colors.
Dumani sent a clear message to the two most critical voices of SPAK, Sali Berisha and Ilri Meta, that the Special Prosecutor's Office does not have a political agenda but is only dealt with on the basis of evidence.
" I had a part of the files under investigation even without taking the direction of SPAK. One of the promises I made in KLP was that I would continue to investigate the issues I had in the investigation. There are other issues that have led to the expansion of the investigative team. All prosecutors and staff have input. Regardless of the accusations, we have given evidence that we have no political agenda, or a plan that today we will investigate a person from this political entity, and tomorrow someone from another political entity. We deal with the evidence. We have done this and we will do it ," Dumani said about Alban Dudushi's "3D" show on RTSH1.
The head of SPAK further added that the institution he leads is independent from politics and the Constitution gives this right.
"We have done this and we will do it. SPAK is independent from politics and this is given to it by the Constitution and the law. Prosecutors exercise their functions removed from politics ", he emphasized.
Asked about the all-round accusations that come from politics and the many pressures, Dumani said that they do not impress him and his reactions are institutional and not emotional.
" My reactions are institutional and not emotional. I have powers, but they are reduced in relation to the prosecutors of the cases. Dumani said.
He also emphasized that SPAK will continue its fight against the corrupt regardless of the positions they hold.
" As far as corruption is concerned, I believe that SPAK has demonstrated in these years that it is able to prosecute any entity regardless of its position, its profile, no matter how high it is, we are doing it with evidence day by day. You know that SPAK has prosecuted very high, mid-level, low-level officials, former judges, former prosecutors, mayors, former mayors, members of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, very high police functionaries" , explained the head of SPAK.
Dumani emphasized that SPAK has hit criminal organizations that were not even thought to be affected before.
" As far as organized crime is concerned, it has shown in these years that, in cooperation with international partners, it can pursue criminal prosecution against structured criminal groups and criminal organizations that previously were not even thought to be affected, but today it is a reality ," said Dumani.
