German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has commented on the agreement for immigrants reached between Italy and Albania. Asked by the media, he said that Albania will soon be a member of the EU, but without giving more details whether our country will join as a result of the pact or is it a cliché statement that the EU wants the Balkans close to it.
" It is a matter between the two governments, but it should also be taken into account that, in our opinion, Tirana will soon become a member of the European Union ", said the German chancellor on the sidelines of the congress of EU socialists in Malaga.
" We are talking about how to solve challenges and problems together, we want to create a solidarity mechanism. We will watch the draft carefully. What is important is not to try to overcome the challenges alone ", he expressed.
The German chancellor said that cooperation with countries outside the union is needed to overcome this difficulty.
" Cooperate with countries outside the EU against illegal immigrants. Irregular immigration must be reduced. For this there will be close cooperation with countries outside the EU. As it is now with Turkey. But there may be more on the way . Regarding this situation, we have to act in a very pragmatic and efficient way , "said Scholz again.
