The general director of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku, gave details about the international smuggling operation, which involved 26 people, four of whom were policemen.
This group was discovered after a 1-year investigation, where the members of this group help immigrants to arrive in our country, whose final destination was the EU countries.
In a statement to the media, Rrumbullaku emphasized that the investigation revealed that five commercial entities provided fictitious contracts to immigrants mainly from Bangladesh and provided them with visas.
"The investigation began based on the information gathered with the Directorate for Investigations on Organized Crime for citizens and entities that provided conditions for citizens of different countries to arrive in our country and continue in the direction of EU countries. The investigation revealed the activities of at least 5 commercial entities that provided fictitious contracts for citizens mainly from Bangladesh, continued with the pursuit of visa applications until arriving in Rinas for 5,000 euros. 26 people involved were identified, including police officers", said Rrumbullaku.
He added that, in total, around 1 million euros in cash were seized as part of this operation.
"As part of the operation for the execution of the measures, during the controls, 13 vehicles, 50 telephones, 3 pistols, a couple, 4 laptops, 400,000 euros, 700,000 US dollars and dozens of confiscated documents were found and seized. About 1 million euros in cash. The police investigation under the direction of SPAK, where besides various individuals and employees were investigated, the investigation served both the police initiative and the self-cleaning of the police. In the 1-year investigation of this process, 380 police officers were engaged", said Rrumbullaku.
