Former senior police chief, Arben Hajdarmataj, has commented on the operation where several police officers were arrested, suspected of collaborating with drug traffickers.
Hajdarmataj stressed that criminal groups should not have any influence on the appointment of police chiefs. He expressed concern that if criminal groups are involved in this process, this could create opportunities for manipulation of the system and an unwanted impact on the order and security of the country.
He also urged the government not to carry out the orders of criminal groups, implying that perhaps some individuals may have an interest in supporting and manipulating the situation for other benefits, such as vote theft.
" Criminal groups should not appoint police chiefs. That's the point. Criminal groups should not have a hand in appointments. The government should not implement orders, because maybe they are interested in stealing votes ," he said on the "Open" show on News 24.
