Pacolli starts maneuvers: Vlora Airport will be ready in March, but flights

Vlora Airport will be completed according to the contract, but its operation will be postponed beyond March 1. This was stated this Thursday by Behgjet Pacolli, who in an interview for the "Opinion" show on TV Klan shared his version of the Vlora airport issue.

" It is not realistic for them to fly on March 1, but the airport will be completed as the contract states in February of next year ," said Pacolli.

According to him, the buildings will be completely finished, but due to a court order, the Vlora International Airport (VIA) entity cannot work to ensure flight operations.

" There is a security measure that was issued a few weeks ago, which has completely blocked the progress of VIA, the Vlora airport. The works continue, but the VIA entity must hire staff, train them, install the IT system, make all the preparations, and sign contracts with airlines. For now, they are blocked, no one dares to do anything, not even those workers who were paid by VIA, they do not receive their salaries ," said Pacolli.

He stressed that he does not understand how the court imposed such a precautionary measure.

" In the civilized world, there are insurance measures, but the insurer must deposit a fairly large amount if the other party is harmed. That is, the judge must reward him with that measure. The measure that has been issued and blocks a state entity, a public-private entity, the largest in Albania that has happened so far, for me is not realistic and I don't know how they thought to do it ," he said.

Pacolli said he does not know how long this situation will last, but stressed that the longer the security measures last "the more it will delay the possibility of opening the airport."

We recall that on October 31, 2025, for approximately 4 hours, businessman Behgjet Pacolli was questioned at the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, regarding the conflict that arose between him and his partner, Valon Ademi, over the Vlora airport concession.
