Dedja and Lulo

Another name left in the vetting escapes being locked in a cell...

As Ervin Salinaji went to prison for false reporting, although he did not file a report at all, former judges who left the system for hiding assets will not work a single day.

The former head of the Constitutional Court, Bashkim Dedja, was sentenced to 6 months in prison, but that was commuted to a year of probation. The only damage to him was that he seized an apartment, but he did not enter a cell for a day.

In the meantime, justice followed the same path with Dedje's colleague. Today the verdict was given for Fatos Lulo. He was sentenced to 9 months in prison for concealing assets, but that was commuted to 80 hours of community service. So there will be no confinement in the cell for him either.

According to SPAK, Lulo has a negative balance of income in two assets, an apartment in Tirana and a 172 m2 office declared as donated on Durrës Street.

The Constitutional Judge was dismissed from the first instance of vetting on March 23, 2018, a decision also upheld by the Special Appeals Panel. A shop with an area of 172 m2 in Tirana was seized from him.

The former judge has stated that the shop on Durrës Street in Tirana, worth 120,000 euros, was given to him as a gift by his sister. The latter, according to him, donated 100 thousand euros, while he borrowed 480 thousand euros. However, the vetting commissions have concluded that Fatos Lulos' sister did not have legal financial income to buy and then donate the store worth 120 thousand euros.

Lulo becomes the second judge left in the vetting to be punished by the Special Court. / Pamphlet
