Mit'hat Havari recalled an episode from 1998, when he was leading the Police in Shkodra and faced public accusations from Sali Berisha, who described him as a collaborator of the State Security.
Havari stated in "Kjo Javë" that he reacted immediately after returning to Tirana by denying the accusations in the media. He said that the statement had a personal and professional impact, while adding that after its publication he received numerous messages from citizens.
Havari also focused on a later development, claiming that in 2019, after receiving the relevant file, he publicly denounced what he called the "block doctor".
He placed the event in the context of the political conflict of that period, emphasizing that the accusations against him were unfounded.
Mit'hat Havari: In these 35 years, Albanians have become mentally depraved, they have accused many people of being collaborators with state security. In fact, they have accused me, Sali Berisha, too.
In February 1998, I was the police director in Shkodra, fighting their gangs, Berisha appeared in front of the media and said that I was a collaborator of the state security, he wanted to diminish my dignity. Dhe nuk përkon aspak me ato që thoni ju. Unë e njoh si "kokëshkretë", I drejtpërdrejtë, dhe aspak intrigant.
