The former prefect of Tirana has held several leadership positions in the administration and structures of the Socialist Party.
Afrim Qendro has been appointed to the position of head of the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection.
He held the position of Prefect of Tirana District until a few days ago. With this move, Qendro moves from territorial administration to the management of the institution that oversees the implementation of the law in the field of construction and territorial protection.
Since November 2021, Qendro has held the position of prefect of Tirana, a position that Shkëlqim Hajdari was appointed to a few days ago.
He is known for his commitment to the local administration and the Socialist Party structures. During the time when Edi Rama headed the Municipality of Tirana, Qendro was one of his collaborators.
In his public career, he headed Enterprise No. 1 in the Municipality of Tirana and then the Construction Inspectorate of the capital. He has also held the position of director of the Albanian Road Authority, as well as the position of deputy mayor of the Municipality of Vlora.
On the political level, Qendro has served as the SP's electoral coordinator in the Tirana and Vlora districts, and has been a member of the National Assembly and the Tirana Assembly.
His appointment as head of IKMT follows a series of leadership positions in central and local administration.
