The 'Joint Movement' protest called to oppose the demolition of the flower garden behind the Opera and Ballet Theater and the construction of a palace in its place has ended.
Many citizens gathered this afternoon and spoke out against the demolition of the only remaining green space in the capital.
Many of them expressed the problems that Tirana is facing in recent years, such as the lack of spaces for rest, parks and constructions without criteria.
"We will make Dubai howl, but Dubai rises above nothing. Give up, do not obey a man without dignity. Every building that rises in Tirana is a murder ", said a protester.
Teacher Ervin Goci, part of this protest, said that this system will not stop until it builds in every corner of the country.
" This cause and many other causes, the construction in Tirana is no different from the incinerator. The incinerator scheme is probably faster, but such schemes are robbery. The land here is public property, just as taxes are protected, property must be protected as well ," he said.
Meanwhile, members of the Joint Movement led by Arlind Qori have warned that other protests will come after this until the works are stopped.
We remind you that the flower garden behind the Opera and Ballet Palace in the center of Tirana will be destroyed. A 185-meter tower will be built in this green space, setting a record for the tallest building in Tirana and at the same time eliminating the last green space in the center of the capital.
