
The police have reacted again to the scandal reported the day before that a massive fraud is happening on the network. Different people pretend to be police officers and by asking for citizens' data in their e-mails, they get the money in their bank accounts.
According to an official statement, today, the Police announced that several cases of computer fraud have been prevented, but work is being done to identify the perpetrators.
We remind you that a message on behalf of the Police leaders has been sent to some citizens during these days with the aim of deceiving natural and legal persons, in exchange for monetary amounts. The message in question prompted a police response.
Yesterday, on 22.06.2023, the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes became aware of a fraud campaign through computer systems which targeted natural and legal persons, without certain differences, with the aim of receiving various monetary amounts.
From the quick actions taken by the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes, in terms of notifying all citizens and contacting every citizen or entity affected by this criminal activity, today we find that we have managed to prevent further consequences, as well as damages monetary for citizens.
The police work continues to investigate the event, as well as to identify the perpetrators.
