In the village of Imshte in the Bubullimë Unit in Lushnje, residents have come out to protest as they denounce the attempt to alienate the lands they have been working on for years.

According to them, it concerns areas within the embankment of the area, which are being illegally claimed by an individual, without any legal documents in support.

After open objections to this claim, some residents were summoned to the Police Station today to give statements. In parallel, dozens of other residents gathered near the local police premises on February 10, in a sign of support for those summoned, although not all of them have official summonses.

The residents of Imshta emphasize that they will not accept the loss of lands that, according to them, they have used for generations and that the law does not allow to be alienated, as they are located within the embankment.

The residents of Imshta declare that they will not allow the lands they have been working on for years to be alienated.

One of them recounts the situation and accuses them of open violation of the law.

"According to the map, they are on the river side and belong to the village. There was no fighting or quarrel, there was no quarrel when they separated, the children are fed, wheat is sown and the toads are kept. You sow the wheat, they go and trample them, but now they call us here because we protect them. They call the boys here, they are well-mannered, hard-working boys. We have maintained the embankment ourselves, because in other places it has flooded. Now this guy comes to us and wants the land, where did he find it? There is no document. He says he gave money! Who did he give the money to? To the river?!" said one of the residents.

The resident continues by raising concerns about the history of this land and the total lack of legal documentation on the part of the claimant.

"Our ancestors were killed for that land, so they call it Ishtm. I even saved the policemen there from drowning. For 25 years, they have been demanding the land on the river side, even though the Commission gave it to the village. Do this, even if you take this to the minister so that he can come to our village, you are doing a good job!", he said.

Some of the residents entered the police station, while not all of them had summonses, but they came to support each other.

According to information, there is no official decision or documentation for these areas that would justify the transfer of ownership to another individual, whether natural or legal.

Residents express their determination to continue the resistance and warn that they will not back down from protecting the lands, which, according to them, belong to the community and have been exploited for decades.
