The protest of Rrjoll residents over the issue of ownership of the land where the Bashkim Ulajt tourist resort is being built has been accompanied by physical clashes and strong tensions.
Dozens of citizens have confronted guards from the private security company, contracted to guard the construction site of the "Gener 2" company.
During the incidents, some of the protesters damaged the windows of excavators and work cabins, while the situation deteriorated into pushing and direct clashes between the parties.
The company's employees brutally beat the protesters with rubber batons on the body and face of the protestor. In the background, chants could be heard: "Down with the thieves, down with the thieves, go away, go away."
Women have also fallen prey to the violence, as they have attempted to quell the 'bloodshed'. We recall that this is the 27th day that the residents of Rrjoll have been protesting.
Residents claim that the land where the works are taking place is their property and are determined not to retreat, despite repeated clashes with company representatives and law enforcement. According to them, the incidents have been accompanied by escorts to the police station after each clash.
On the other hand, there is still no official reaction from the construction company or the authorities regarding the recent events. The situation in the area remains tense.
