Thumana residents protest again: Scandal, they promised us access to the highway
Residents in protest

For the third time in a row, residents of villages in the Thumanë Administrative Unit protested today near the Thumanë-Kashar highway underpass, blocking traffic in protest against the condition of the Gramza road.

According to residents, the segment of about 500 meters has been severely damaged by the traffic of vehicles deviating from the highway, mainly heavy vehicles. They accuse the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) and the Municipality of Kruja of a lack of investment and maintenance.

"These big cars have damaged our road, it's 500 meters long. I come from work from Thumana to Gramës, it takes me three hours to get home. It's 500 meters long, they should pave it with asphalt. They shouldn't let heavy vehicles pass, or they should make a roundabout. They came and threw gravel to blind people ," said one of the protesters.

Another resident emphasized that their request is minimal, to pave only 500 meters of road.

"This is not the first time that there has been a protest, we are not asking for anything special, they should pave 500 meters of road because it doesn't cost anyone. This was regular asphalt, they ruined it. We want a 500-meter road, they have a day's work. They promised us access to the highway, this is a scandal. Heavy tonnage vehicles are passing by," he said.

The protesters called on the responsible institutions to intervene for the reconstruction of the road, describing the situation as unacceptable for the local community. They warned that reactions will continue if concrete measures are not taken.
