This Wednesday, the Regional Directorate of the National Food Agency in Tirana has blocked 5 tons of Gouda cheese and 944 kilograms of chicken fillet, products belonging to the entity Tona Alb shpk.
According to the official announcement, the measure was taken because the products were not equipped with a counter-label in Albanian, a legal obligation for every food product marketed in the country. The lack of labeling violates consumer information and makes it impossible to verify the origin, composition and expiration date.
In addition to blocking a significant amount of products, the NFA has also penalized the entity with an administrative fine for violating labeling and traceability requirements. The authorities emphasize that controls will continue, as such cases raise serious questions about food safety and the responsibility of entities operating in the market.
