"The evidence in the Antonio Karafili case was manipulated"/ The

The Institute of Forensic Medicine has reacted to the accusations that lawyer Arben Llangozi made towards this institution regarding the death of Antonio Karafili, which occurred seven years ago and was revealed only a few days ago.

According to the completed investigations, the perpetrators of the incident turned out to be his ex-girlfriend, Kejsi Spahillari, and her partner, Rezhep Vathi. The lawyer for the victim's family, Arben Llangozi, has confessed that the judicial process was accompanied by chaos due to fabrications and manipulation of evidence, and even labeled the Institute of Forensic Medicine as a criminal organization.

Regarding these accusations, the Institute of Forensic Medicine has stated that none of the statements made by lawyer Llangozi are true and that forensic medical expertise acts are made based on scientific and medical criteria. According to this Institute, Llangozi's accusations are a manipulation of public opinion and a violation of justice. It is further emphasized in the statement of the Institute of Forensic Medicine that they will follow the legal path for these accusations, which they claim are unfounded.

It is worth noting that at that time, in the case of Antonio Karafili, the forensic medical expertise determined that the young man had lost his life after hanging himself with a sheet. Everything would change 7 years later, when the evidence collected showed that the young man had been killed and then hung by the two perpetrators from a tree with a sheet. The final investigation by the prosecution found irregularities in the evidence that later led to the discovery of the truth.

Official reaction of the Institute of Forensic Medicine:

The Institute of Forensic Medicine expresses its indignation and deep professional concern over the public statements of lawyer Mr. Arben Llangozi, who irresponsibly and without any scientific basis has attacked the forensic medical expertise acts and labeled the Institute as a "criminal organization".

These statements made by this lawyer on several television media outlets such as Top Channel, MCN TV, constitute a serious defamation, an insult to an independent institution that operates under the law, and a clear attempt to violate the integrity of forensic evidence in the criminal process.

We emphasize that throughout the democratic world, forensic medicine provides professional opinions based on scientific and medical criteria. Legal assessments and analyses of the circumstances of the crime scene belong exclusively to the criminal investigation body and are not subject to forensic expertise. Any attempt to present it differently is a manipulation of public opinion and a violation of justice.

The Institute of Forensic Medicine is a structure built on high professional and scientific standards, and every act drafted by our experts is the product of independent work and documented on clear medical grounds.

Discrediting forensic medicine with derogatory language and absurd accusations will not be tolerated. Our institution reserves the right to take any legal action to protect its reputation and authority, including requesting the Ministry of Justice and DHKA to order the removal of the right to practice the profession for serious violations of professional ethics!
