The Minister of Finance, Ervin Mete, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, has presented the new law on tourism, which is about accommodation structures, related to the responsibilities of landlords in this sector.
"Tourism already has an extraordinary expansion and as it requires a dedicated attention in terms of regulation, either standardization or categorization of structures, it also requires a dedicated attention in terms of the fiscal approach, so that this sector provides its own contribution to the economy, but also to the state budget. This, having a fairer taxation and a fairer contribution from this sector, in relation to the responsibilities arising from the rules and fiscal regulations.
In the law that is proposed today, a provision is provided, where following it, the Council of Ministers will have an interactive approach with the sector, in order to design a methodology that serves as a reference methodology for the capacities of using accommodation structures, according to the seasons certain.
In the coming days, the Ministry of Finance will publish some clarifications regarding the responsibilities of landlords in this sector, or individuals who use platforms, in order to be as clear and transparent as possible in their tax responsibilities and to have and a more cooperative approach with taxpayers in order to respond to these fiscal responsibilities, for a fairer tax and a fairer contribution to the economy and the state budget", said Mete.
What will change for landlords, regarding the platforms "Booking" and "Airbnb"?
"No! Nothing changes for individual landlords. But we will provide a clarification, so that they are as clear as possible about their legal responsibilities and enter into a more cooperative approach from the taxpayer service, so that there is a fairer taxation.
Whereas, what changes with today's law is the establishment of a provision, according to which a methodology for the use of capacities will be determined for tourism operators, according to sectors, which will then be a reference methodology for the taxation of operators, in order so that there is a declaration as fair as possible of the use of the capacities of the tourist operators", said Mete.
