
The Council of Ministers approved this Thursday a decision to determine the criteria and procedures for immediate financial compensation, in the event of serious damage to property, due to duty for state police employees.
According to the announcement, a state police employee in the event of serious injury due to duty may receive compensation of up to 1,000,000 lek, according to the damage assessment acts.
The State Police employee, in the event of serious damage to property, due to duty, benefits from immediate financial compensation of up to 1,000,000 lek, according to the damage assessment acts.
The police employee benefits from immediate financial compensation when:
a) the property was damaged as a result of a criminal offense committed to his detriment in the course of his duty, and the case was referred to the prosecutor's office, or the property was accidentally damaged during its use by the police officer in the performance of official duties;
b) the police officer has a document that proves the title of ownership/co-ownership over the damaged property, or proves that this property is in the process of being legalized;
c) has not received compensation from an insurance company for property damage.
To benefit from immediate financial compensation, the employee submits the following documentation:
a) A written request for compensation, stating the fact of the damage;
b) A copy of the letter referring the criminal offense to the prosecutor's office, in the case where the property was damaged as a result of a criminal offense committed to his detriment, due to his duty, and the case was referred to the prosecutor's office;
c) A notarized copy of the document that certifies the title of ownership/co-ownership of the damaged property, or that proves that this property is in the process of being legalized;
ç) Damage assessment report by a licensed expert.
