Analyst Frrok Çupi spoke about the agreed draft of the SP-PD for the Electoral Reform, where it was decided that 1/3 of the lists will be closed and 2/3 open.
He says that open or closed lists have become a myth every time there is an election campaign, but according to him, this is not the problem of the electoral law.
Çupi said that asking only for open lists is populism.
He added that the problem remains the quality of the people who represent the voters.
"First, it must be said that a kind of cooperation, a kind of parliamentarism is working and this is important. As for the reports with open lists and closed lists, to tell the truth, it is a cause that leads nowhere, they are making it a myth. Demanding only open lists is simply populism and building the open list, simply for reasons of your politics within the political grouping you have, is again a thing that leads nowhere. The problem of the electoral law has become a legend for us. The OSCE, the organizations that deal with this matter, are very obsessed with this matter, in every election, in every campaign, a story will be created, a great trauma, what will the lists be like. This is not the problem of elections. The problem of the elections is the quality of the people, and the quality of the representatives, it cannot be chosen, not only in Albania, but in the whole world, it cannot be chosen simply by the neighborhood, the collective, it is great populism. Little ones always try to catch a bug. Everyone fights for their mandate. People within the party always think about their alignment. You cannot impose your problems on others. There can be no open lists. Political parties are presumed to be responsible parties. This is how democracy is built. The most reliable is the political party that goes to the elections. Political parties are responsible for what they choose," he told ABC News.
