Citizens take to the streets again, the protest enters its 32nd day...

The 32nd day of the civic protest has officially begun. After gathering in Skanderbeg Square, hundreds of citizens have begun marching towards the Prime Minister's Office building, where the next rally against the government is expected to take place.

With red and black flags in their hands and banners against the government, protesters have filled the streets of the capital, repeating the calls that have now become symbols of this movement: "Rama go!", "Rama resign!", "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison!", "New Albania!" and "The end has come for you!".

Although the protest began more than a month ago as a revolt against the tourism project in Zvërnec, it has now transformed into a broader movement against the government and the entire old political class. Organizers and participants insist that the protest is no longer just against a specific project, but for a change in the way of governance and the political system in the country.

Today's rally takes place a day after clashes in front of the Parliament, the arrest of several protesters, and harsh attacks by Prime Minister Edi Rama and cabinet members against the protest organizers.

The students have ruled out any possibility of dialogue with the government, emphasizing that the protest does not require negotiations, but political change.

" We are a group of students who do not have specific demands. There is no dialogue like in 2018. This situation will only be resolved with the departure of Prime Minister Edi Rama ," said one of them.

They have also taken over the symbolic action carried out a few days ago, when they placed stickers on MPs' cars, in protest of the fines that, according to them, were imposed on immigrants who came to Albania for the national protest.

" We organized the stickers ourselves, without anyone's support. We put them on the MPs' cars because immigrants were fined, while their cars remain parked in violation of the rules and are not punished ," declared one of the students.

Another student described her vision for what protesters call the "new Albania."

" The new Albania is an Albania without corruption, where you are free to speak, where you have equal opportunities and where justice works for citizens. This is why we are here and why we will not leave ," she said.
