The recount of votes for the Durrës region ended in another defeat for the DP. Not only was Berisha's electoral farce not proven, but the recount revealed that the DP had been unfairly given additional votes.
For lawyer Romeo Kara, the May 11 elections were among the best elections ever held and for Berisha, his post-election stance is rhetoric that constitutes the essence of Berishaism. Kara further criticized the Electoral Code, saying that it does not fully respect the sovereignty of Albanians.
"This is a rhetoric that constitutes the essence of Berishaism, the refusal to accept defeat. It was prepared, both sides knew who would win or not and both were prepared for the post-election period. Berisha has a wild rhetoric, but he is calm in bargaining with the majority and will not leave the approval of the electoral code in silence. And the other bargaining for which he has been accused and I hope that SPAK wakes up from its slumber.
"I think we have not left the certification of the elections in Berisha's hands. The elections are the best that have been held so far, but the essence is that this Electoral Code does not give the full right to sovereignty to Albanians and there are other things that Berisha does not talk about," Kara said to "Abc News".
