Journalist Sokol Bregu has revealed details from the extradition of the former Durrës gang leader from Spain, Lulzim Berisha.
Speaking to MCN Live, he stated that Berisha is accused of two sensational murders.
" They knew his whereabouts for a long time, it took a few weeks of tracking until they were able to find him, the way they found him that day would have transported him to another location, he was with a forged passport and was caught in one of the coastal cities in a luxury villa in Spain.
His defense attorneys requested that he not be extradited for many reasons, including security reasons and the potential for retaliation, but all three courts, all three levels of the judiciary, decided to extradite him. The charge against him is that of complicity in two murders.
That of Klodian Salihu, for whom he was never tried in the 2007 trial at the Serious Crimes Court, and that of another businessman, Vajdin Lame, with a remote-controlled mine that brought down almost two floors in the middle of Tirana.
These murders were revealed through the testimony of the repentant justice Luftar Reçi.
"They are crimes that automatically lead to life imprisonment if you are found guilty of it ," he said.
According to the journalist, Lulzim Berisha did not want to return to Albania. He said that there is a testimony from Luftar Reçi that says that I helped him commit a crime against Klodian Salihu, who was his main enemy, after they had been friends and had become sworn enemies.
" The story says that I gave Lulzim Berisha a bomb that was used to kill Vajdi Lame. There is no public information that Lulzim Berisha has properties in Albania and intense financial activity. If there is, SPAK has the instruments to find out what he has in Albania ," he said.
