The specialist of the Military Meteorological Service, Anira Gjoni, has spoken about the situation created in Vlora with the floods due to very intense rains.
Gjoni says that the level of rainfall was very high, 184.2 mm in the span of 6 hours. Such a level, according to her, could be expected during a week in winter and not within 6 hours, as happened yesterday in Vlora.
"We were expected to have intense and very intense rainfall. At the moment we predict very intense rainfall, it means that the threshold of more than 90 mm of rain in 24 hours is crossed. Rainfall in Vlora is recorded in values of 184.2 mm, in Orikum 144 mm of rain, these were for a period of 6 hours and it means that it is very high intensity in this period of time", said Gjoni for Report TV.
Gjoni says that the most difficult situation has passed during today's day in Vlora, but the whole country is expecting rains with very weak intensity.
"It was a storm that affected the region, not only our country. It is situations of storms and earthquakes that bring such situations.
For the region of Vlora, we expect light rains today and tomorrow, while in Shkodra and Lezha we expect moderate rains with thunderstorms. Durrësi, Tirana Korça and Gjirokastra, we expect to have weak rainfall. Almost the whole country will have weak rains, the hard part is over", continued Gjoni.
John also stopped at such similar situations years ago.
"We had such situations that continued for 4-5 days last year. In 2021, the situation was even worse than yesterday, in 2019 or in 2017. Not in Vlora district, but in Shkodër. It is very high intensities that bring these problems and emergency situations as was created yesterday in the city of Vlora", said Gjoni.
