Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço has stated that large amounts of cocaine and cannabis are being processed in our country.
Invited to the "Top Talk" show, Karamuço said that the price of cocaine has decreased compared to other years, due to the large amount in the country. The expert considers the situation alarming, while adding that there is an amount beyond that predicted.
Karamuço: Since 2016, we have seen an almost drastic decrease in the cultivation of cannabis, but this year has made a difference, perhaps due to the defocusing of the State Police, which was more concerned with the management of local elections. There is an increase in the cultivation of the domestic narcotic cannabis sativa. This year has increased a lot, as never before since 2016, and that is why the police operations have begun, which are concentrated in the north mostly, but also in Central Albania, in Kruja, but also in South Albania there is an increase of cultivation.
Xhokaxhi: How is the price of cocaine determined?
Karamuço: Through wholesalers who say under their breath that a kilo of cocaine in Albania costs 20 thousand euros today, while before it cost 27 to 32. It means that there is a very large amount inside the country, it is not that this amount is consumed inside country, but this amount is processed and then passes through other lines to be consumed in EU countries. It is alarming, it means that there is an amount beyond that predicted. There are labs that are being processed, some have been caught, some are being investigated, some will be caught in the future. We see in the retail doses used by citizens that the price has dropped a lot.
