The Turkish Minister of Defense, Yasar Güler, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the NATO air base in Kuçovo.
He praised Albania as a strategic partner for Turkey, while adding that the opening of the air base in Kuçovo is a good omen for Tirana.
The minister also spoke about very good opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
"The Minister of Defense could not participate in this ceremony due to his busy schedule. Albania has developed in almost every field in recent years. Between Albania and Turkey there is a brotherly relationship for more than 500 years.
As a manifestation of these fraternal ties, our relations today are at the highest level. Our countries have excellent opportunities for cooperation in many fields. The military agreement we recently signed is of particular importance.
Turkey sees Albania as an important partner in the Balkans. NATO is the most successful organization for peace in the world. The inauguration and modernization of this base with the contribution of Turkey is an important step for security. The Kuçova base will be of special strategic importance for the alliance, peace and security in the region," he said.
