Ilir Alimehmeti spoke about today's action of the opposition inside and outside the Assembly. He said that the Socialist Party, on the one hand, ignores the decisions of the Constitutional Court, while Ervin Salianji goes to prison for free speech.
Alimehmeti said that Salianji is serving a prison sentence after telling the truth about Fatmir Xhafa's brother. Alimehmeti also said that today Albania is moving towards a dictatorial state, with the only difference being that we do not have closed borders.
The member of the DP National Council said that the changes in the Electoral Code do not favor the opposition. Alimehmeti said that when expectations are raised, you have to keep them, and the opposition raised the expectations for the open lists.
"I stick to the line that we should have open lists. As members of the National Council, we were not asked about that agreement on changes to the Electoral Code", Alimehmeti said.
He said that in Albania we have a serious problem, that parliamentarianism is not broken by the burning of a jacket by a member of parliament, or the throwing of an item, so that we can see what will come out of the investigation, by a member of parliament.
"We have big things happening in this country, starting from the violation of the Constitution, from the disregard of the decisions of the Constitutional Court", said Alimehmeti.
Alimehmeti said that the opposition has no war with the citizens, as according to him we will all go to dictatorship if we do not react together to the violation of rights.
"The problem is, can rotation happen since we have a party-state?" Today, this state party demands that no opposition opinion be allowed at all, that there be no opposition at all. The citizens have been there for 50 years during the years of the dictatorship, but they could not do anything when the dictatorship was installed. OSCE/ODIHR says it clearly in its "party-state" report. We need a diversification of the opposition action, we cannot have only one format. If we are worried about the Molotov cocktails, then we should also worry about why the Albanians are fleeing, why the funds are being stolen ", he said to "News 24".
