
A suspected Albanian criminal tried to climb over a roof wearing slippers in an attempt to escape police raiding a residential cannabis farm.
The 19-year-old climbed out of a first-floor window to avoid West Mercia Police, who swung into action following a tip-off. The man was forced to cross a barrier to avoid arrest, but was soon arrested in a nearby garden.
Officers found 60 large plants at the house in Cofton Hackett, Worcestershire, which were valued at around £50,000. They were able to seize a further 198 smaller plants, which could be worth £1,000 each.
Officers seized cannabis plants along with cultivation equipment and a sophisticated electrical system. The raid happened after neighbors raised concerns about drugs and suspicious activity in the area.
A 19-year-old Albanian man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
PC Rod Hartright, of West Mercia Police, said: “The order shows that we will not tolerate drugs within our community and will continue to act on information we receive about drugs.
Drugs have a negative impact on our communities and can lead to other localized criminality and the harm and exploitation of vulnerable people.”
