Seven officers of the Peqin Police Station have been permanently dismissed from the ranks of the State Police after a disciplinary investigation that revealed serious violations in the exercise of their duties. The decision comes after their previous suspension and is related to the failure to take measures to control the territory.
The structures of the Directorate of Professional Standards have found that officials have not exercised sufficient controls in the area they covered, allowing the operation of a warehouse that is suspected of being used for the cultivation of cannabis for more than a year. During the verifications, significant quantities of drug plant stems were found, which has raised suspicions of ongoing illegal activity.
The dismissed officials are Altin Gusho, Danjel Kacaniku, Sefer Dushku, Muharrem Zylyfi, Bilbil Lita, Denis Sinani and Arben Koseni, who held various functions within the police station structure.
Official sources indicate that this case has been taken as an example to strengthen discipline and internal control within the police ranks. In the first meetings with local leaders, the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, has warned that similar cases will not be tolerated and has requested an increase in periodic checks in the territory, especially in areas that pose a risk for the cultivation of narcotics.
Investigations into this matter continue to determine other possible responsibilities and to verify whether there are other persons involved in this activity.
