Journalist Robert Rakipllari commented on the agreement signed today between Italy and Albania, according to which tens of thousands of illegal immigrants will be sheltered in our country.
He mentioned Ben Blush's latest novel, "The Conspiracy", which talks about Albania in 1944 where a refugee camp in Shengjin became a majority and managed to take over the municipality and then conspired to take over the government as well.
As for the agreement itself, Rakipllari said that Rama is obliged to ensure transparency regarding this initiative, since according to him it exceeds the mandate of this government and there should be a consultation as wide as possible.
"At the weekend, I got hold of a novel by Ben Blushi, "The Conspiracy", and it talks about Albania in 1944, where a refugee camp in Shengjin became a majority and managed to take over the municipality and then conspired to take over the government as well. This is fiction, but I did not expect this to happen so quickly.
I agree with Bardhi as Rama cannot make this so personal and is obliged to provide transparency as to how this initiative will be carried out, as this exceeds the mandate of a government and majority with 71 votes. I believe this will go through parliament and be beyond the current majority as a decision. It should have been a consultation as large as possible, accompanied by full transparency about these people who will come, how long they will stay, etc.
Albania owes Italy if it needs help at this moment. As far as I have seen and followed Italy, there is a trend towards Italy. The EU has not responded properly to Italy to help them with their management. In this respect, this is a bilateral agreement with Italy, which was found for us when we had problems with the exodus.
However, this cannot be done by Rama personally, and as Bardhi also said, he cannot treat Albania as his fiefdom. It must be resolved with the Parliament and ensuring full transparency", said Rakipllari for "News 24".
