Security expert Fatjon Softa says that over 12,600 hectares have burned this year, with a damage value of around 78 million euros, describing the situation as twice as severe as in 2024.
Commenting on the fire situation in the country, Softa told Oranews that the current situation corresponds to a certain amount of damage caused to an area of over 12,600 hectares with a value of around 78 million euros, damage estimated at least until the end of July and is double the damaged area compared to 2024.
"Here we have 3 elements, damage to nature, damage to the economy, and national security.
All these sacrifices should have been made in advance because this is not the first year and we are unprepared, but for several years now, Albania has been experiencing a worsening fire situation, whether due to natural causes or deliberate arson, which constitutes a serious crime.
I am of the principle that prevention is better than cure. We continue to have the same problems, that we continue to deal with the consequences.
"So, the fire has broken out. The firemen are to blame and what should we do to the maximum to fight the flames and the fire," said Softa.
