Sali Berisha, under investigation for the 'Partizani' affair, will continue to remain under house arrest.
The appeal of the Special Court has upheld the "house arrest" decision against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
The session that was scheduled to be held yesterday was postponed to today at 09:00, when the decision was made on Sali Berisha's appeal. The decision was taken by judge Ilirjana Olldashi.
" The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of judge Iliriana Olldashi, today 25.01.2024, at 09:00, announced the decision on criminal case no. 27 act, date 16.01.2024 registration , registered on the appeal of the person under investigation/complainant SB, with object: "Appeal against decision No. 520, dated 30.12.2023 (disposed on the request for the replacement of the personal insurance measure) and decision No. 521, dated 27.12.2023 ( ruled on the request for dismissal of the judge) of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime", and decided:
The approval of no. 520, dated 30.12.2023 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime." - stated in the decision of the Appeal of GJKKO.
Meanwhile, Sali Berisha's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, described the decision of the Appeal to uphold the measure of arrest against the former prime minister as a political decision and stated that they would appeal to the Supreme Court.
While he added that the Appeal of GJKKO has not expressed their request for the dismissal of judge Irena Gjoka, who gave the decision to assign the measure 'house arrest' to the head of Reestablishment.
" Berisha appeared for questioning, yesterday the court postponed the hearing for today and I don't understand the reason why. The court also made another mistake because it did not express itself on the request for exclusion that we appealed. The decision will we appeal to the Supreme Court "- said Gjokutaj.
