Activist Migen Qiraxhi was invited this Saturday to the "Review" show on Euronews Albania, where he shared a personal case of microcredit abuse.
The tenant said that his family is the heir to a plot of 200,000 square meters in the city of Korça, where the owners are 44 people. He said that one of the owners had received a loan of 1300 euros and could not repay 800 euros.
He added that the microcredit companies bought the bad loan from the bank and seized the entire property of 200,000 square meters.
" My family inherits a considerable property in the city of Korça from my great-grandparents. This considerable wealth, due to generations, is inherited by 44 family members, some of whom we don't even know. One of them takes a loan of 1300 euros from these institutions and remained unpaid 800 euros. These offices that have bought this loan of this individual, contact all the owners of the 200 thousand square meters that we inherit in the city of Korça. Owners that we also had a hard time finding, they found them, and they have imposed the seizure measure for the entire property. We remembered at first that it was a joke. For 800 euros, they seized 200,000 square meters of land ," he said.
The tenant added that the matter was resolved after the denunciation made by them in all institutions, where the microcredit company withdrew out of fear.
