Analyst Arben Meçe spoke about the latest developments in the Meta file, as SPAK has the charges against the Meta-Kryemadhi couple ready.
The prosecution has closed the investigations and is ready to file with the Special Court the file that included three investigations in one, the CEZ-DIA affair, the SMI lobbying scandal in the US, and the property investigation.
Kryemadhi has appeared at SPAK to receive the file, while her mother is also officially named as a defendant.
Ilir Meta's lawyer requested a postponement of the communication of the indictment, claiming that he is on vacation.
Meçe said that the Special Prosecution Office has followed the "follow the money" method and in this context, the chain of investigation has affected Ilir Meta's family members and close connections.
He stressed that Meta has taken care not to sign the corruption with his own hand, but the scheme he has set up has made the money and benefits go to him. According to Meçe, if the method being followed in the "Meta" case will prove successful, then this approach will turn into a horror for all those in power in Albania, as he said.
"The case is related to the property investigation. SPAK is implementing the "follow the money" method. The Meta family case is very different from all corrupt people, because Meta has taken care never to sign. There are no formal implications with Meta's signature. The envelopes, money and suitcases went to Meta. He used corrupt schemes without writing anything on paper. SPAK has begun to reveal the entire mechanism of how these people have possessed large monetary values. Money laundering is at its core. We will have interesting things about a procedure that has dismantled a mechanism that has functioned in Albania and that will set a precedent and be the terror of all those in power. If this is successful, then the methods will be very effective in combating political crime in Albania," he told "Abc News".
