KPA dismisses Tirana prosecutor, Eranda Felaj (Laze)...
The troubles in the Felaj family are endless. After Ermonela Felaj remained out of Parliament, her prosecutor sister, Eranda Felaj (Laze), has also left the justice system.
The Special Appeals Chamber, KPA, announced on Tuesday, July 29, the decision to dismiss the Tirana prosecutor from her duties. According to the Chamber, the claim of the Public Commissioners institution and the head of SPAK that prosecutor Laze and her husband are unable to prove the legal financial resources for the payment of the first installment of an apartment worth 40 thousand euros and for the last installment is correct.
According to " Birn ", the College also found the complaint right and the cause of action for the impossibility of creating a cash balance, due to the failure to verify the legality of the husband's income by the attorney. According to the KPA, the payment of tax obligations was not proven for this income.
For a plot of land donated to the spouse, the KPA panel assessed that the subject did not convincingly explain the spouse's relationship with the donor.
The College assesses that even for an informal construction in the process of legalization, self-declared by the father of the subject's husband, no explanations were given for the reasons for investing together with another citizen in a garage in a tourist location, even though he lives in Italy.
Although these circumstances were not found to be penalizing, they were considered in the overall assessment.
Trips with persons suspected of being involved in criminal activity were also found to be insufficient for the measure, although it was found that they indicate negligence.
In conclusion, the panel of judges of the College concludes that prosecutor Eranda Laze is in a situation of insufficient declaration of assets and decided to change the decision of the Commission and dismiss this re-evaluation subject from duty.
Laze was confirmed in office by the Independent Qualification Commission, KPK, on November 8 last year. During the administrative investigation at KPK, she contested the negative balance of 10 million lek, as well as the findings of travel with persons involved in organized crime, requesting confirmation. The majority of the KPK panel found the explanations and evidence submitted by the subject convincing, reducing the impossibility to about 1.5 million lek, which was ultimately considered non-penalizing.
While the minority considered that Laze failed to prove the legality of the sources for two residential apartments in Tirana, purchased for the value of 81,284 Euros, and a vehicle. The minority reasoned that the subject's claims were not supported by periodic declarations nor by the facts resulting from the administrative investigation.
The decision of the majority of the Commission was also found unfounded by the International Monitoring Operation, which, after identifying problems with assets and ethics, requested the Public Commissioners, through a recommendation, to file an appeal with the College.
Laze is the sister of Ermonela Felaj, current SP MP, but as of September she will no longer be in the Assembly.
