38% of Albanians, mainly from the north, want to emigrate to the United Kingdom.
The survey conducted by Swiss Contact and funded by the UK Government has published surprising statistics regarding the desire of Albanians to emigrate.
59% of them aim for Great Britain, 20% chose Germany and only 7% chose the United States. Furthermore, 47% of individuals who wanted to move to Britain already have relatives living there.
Last year, 45,700 migrants made their way to the UK. Among this group, a quarter were Albanians. A representative from the Home Office emphasized that the British government appreciates the cooperative efforts with the Albanian government to deal with illegal immigration.
"We will continue to fight the activities of organized criminal networks, speed up the removal of individuals without a right to be in the UK and raise awareness among migrants about the dangers of small boat crossings. Compared to last year, the number of arrivals of small Albanian ships has decreased by almost 90%. We have successfully repatriated around 1,800 Albanian citizens who lived in Great Britain without legal authorization", he said.
