The Elbasan-Librazhd road axis continues to be one of the biggest road traffic problems in Albania, where heavy traffic is making the lives of hundreds of drivers difficult every day. Although promises have been made over the years and projects have been presented to improve this segment, the situation on the ground remains almost unchanged.

This road is of strategic importance, as it connects Central Albania with the Southeast of the country and serves as a main corridor for the transport of goods and international movement towards North Macedonia. However, the high flow of vehicles, especially trucks and heavy vehicles, has pushed the existing road beyond its capacity.
The lack of a bypass in Elbasan remains the main problem. Without an alternative route for transit traffic, all vehicles, from heavy vehicles to local traffic, are forced to use the same axis. This situation causes frequent traffic jams, long delays and great difficulties in traffic, especially during rush hours and during the tourist season.

Without concrete interventions and without the realization of the long-awaited bypass, Elbasan–Librazhd is expected to remain one of the busiest and most difficult segments for traffic in the country.
