In the investigations to find the perpetrators who executed Pjetër Kazë in the yard of his house in Tale, Lezha, a detail has emerged from the investigative file, which was published on Tuesday during the show "Në Shënjestër" by journalist Klodiana Lala, where it is said that the police have the ID of the 57-year-old victim's executioner.
"As a result of intensive investigations, evidence collected at the scene and based on information provided by police intelligence, the investigative group has identified and declared wanted 1 citizen suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder of the 57-year-old man.
"From the intensive investigation, it is suspected that citizen GA (due to the investigation, we are not disclosing other information) fired an automatic firearm at citizen Pjetër Kaza at the moment he got out of the car to open the door of his apartment," the investigative file states.
While investigating the murder of Pjetër Kazë, the investigative group also sought to question Preng Gjini. However, the latter was not found in the apartment and therefore his testimony was not taken.
The Gjini family, which is already related by blood to the Kaza family, are also first cousins with Preng Gjini, a well-known criminal figure known for his clash with the Reçi tribe in Rrëshen, where at least 10 people were killed.
Preng Gjin was attacked with explosives while the car he was driving was traveling over a populated bridge near the area known as Nshraku in Tirana. He was seriously injured in this attack, but the perpetrators were attributed to members of the Reçi family.
But while it was thought that the Gjini and Kaza families would take time to avenge themselves, or to settle the conflict between them, the murder of 57-year-old Pjetër Kaza, on the morning of June 1st near the gate of his apartment in Tale, Lezha, simply extinguished once again, perhaps finally, the hopes that there could be peace between the two families.
A peace that, however fragile, once again returned the relations between the two families to their starting point. While the investigative group now says it has in its hands the identity of the person suspected of shooting Pjetër Kaza at the door of the apartment.
Returning to the events that occurred several years ago, "Në Shënjestër" also brought to attention developments in the trial of Martin Kazë, the brother of the victim Pjetër Kazë, the perpetrator of the murder of the two Gjini brothers in 1997.
Martin Kaza, due to the summary trial, had his sentence reduced to only 13 years and 8 months.
But this easing of Martin Kaza's position was not well received by his enemies, and it seems that this very fact further inflamed the bloodshed between the two families.
The Gjini family, for its part, waited for the right moment to strike, exactly where the Kaza family did not expect it. Even though members of the Kaza family had already chosen to live outside Albania due to the blood feud.
Thinking that they could be safer there. But the Gjini family was also pursued in the European Union countries where they had taken refuge. As in fact, one of the Kaza brothers was killed in Belgium, bringing the number of people killed between the two families to four.
A sign of equality that in such cases does not serve as this would not be the end of a blood feud.
The next execution would come in April 2024. The victim would be Agustin Kaza, brother of the murdered former Lezha crime boss, Ndue Kaza, and Martin Kaza, already in prison, as the double murderer of brothers Dod and Agustin Gjini.
The 44-year-old was executed while drinking coffee in an Albanian bar on 'Joseph Brand' street, in Schaerbeek. He was shot several times in the head and chest by a man walking next to him, who after confronting him, shot him several times and then quietly left the scene.
Agustin Kaza was initially reported to have been seriously injured in the attack. His condition was critical after he was shot at close range.
The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office did not communicate anything regarding the motive for this murder. However, regarding the murder of Agustin Kaza, the Belgian authorities did not rule out the possibility of disrupting drug deals.
The area where the assassination took place had been constantly at the center of police checks, due to increased violence and drug trafficking.
Although the police have been reserved in their information, what is implied is that the perpetrator, now wanted, is a member of the Gjins. He is also suspected of other serious crimes.
