The application of tolls in the Llogara Tunnel is expected within this month, ending the period of free passage.
The work to install the payment system has entered its final phase, while today the final tests for the full functioning of the equipment were conducted.
Security cameras, electronic control systems and supporting infrastructure are being verified to guarantee a smooth process at the time of charging.
The fee will start at 100 lek for motorcycles and the maximum will be 5,000 lek for heavy-duty vehicles. For cars, the toll will be 250 lek, or 500 lek round trip, 500 lek for vehicles with bodywork, 1,000 lek for vans and buses.
The introduction of the fee is expected to be accompanied by reactions from citizens and travelers, who have so far used the tunnel free of charge. In the meantime, it remains to be seen whether there will be any special facilities or cards for residents.
The Llogara Tunnel is considered a key investment for improving traffic towards the south of the country, shortening travel times and increasing road safety.
