The decision taken by the judge of Rome, Silvia Albano for the transfer to Italy of the first 12 immigrants who landed in Albania has caused a great stress in the Italian government.
Albano "sunk" the idea of Meloni and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to fill Albania with refugees coming from unsafe countries.
The decision of the Rome Court was based on a decision of the European Court of Justice on October 4 on asylum seekers from unsafe countries.
According to the decision of the Court of Rome, Egypt and Bangladesh are considered unsafe countries and therefore the immigrants must stay in Italy.
In a statement to the media, the head of the section Luciana Sangiovanni said that the migrants should be sent to Italy.
But who is the judge who made Meloni "headache"?
Silvia Albano, 63, is a judge in the immigration section of the Rome court. Albano made the decision about CPRs in Albania.
"Il Giornale" writes that it rejected the Meloni government's plan from the beginning as a "deportation", a violation of human rights and community rules, prohibited by European directives. So Albano had made her opinion known in advance, as soon as the transfer plan had started.
Judge Albano, from Padua but long since transferred to Lazio, embodies two souls: she is a judge in the immigration section of the Rome court, but she is also the national president of the Democratic Judiciary, the current of the red clothes.
Albano seems to have been looking forward to facing the government's plan even as a judge. Coincidentally, among the sixteen judges working in the immigration section of the Rome court, the detention order signed by the Rome police commissioner for the twelve refugees locked up in Gjader arrived on her desk.
She knew when she signed the waiver that she was putting herself on a collision course with the government.
Meanwhile, yesterday's decision of the court in Rome has ignited politics in Italy. Italian Prime Minister Gorgia Meloni reacted after the decision but did not comment on it. According to Meloni, three opposition parties DP, M5S and AVS have asked the European Commission if it intends to open an infringement procedure against Italy for the agreement on migratory flows with Albania.
Meloni's irritation seems to be greater with the opposition parties in Italy than with the court decision because according to her these Italian parties are actually asking Europe to sanction their nation and its citizens, with the sole purpose of attacking politically the government. According to Meloni, this is a shame that cannot be ignored.
