The event happened near Kindergarten 31, in the area of the former Block where the lawyer had just taken the child. The unmasked aggressors ambushed Sokol, while he was walking in the morning, in an area frequented by many citizens and covered by security cameras, and hit him several times in the head, leaving him unconscious.
After calling their mission accomplished, the perpetrators left on foot through the alleys where a vehicle was waiting for them. While the lawyer was urgently transported to the hospital.
Since 08:30 the lawyer is in intensive care, where he is undergoing examinations. He underwent a scan, where two hematomas on his head were identified, for which he will be waiting for 48 hours to see his health parameters.
On the other hand, the Police of Tirana has set up an investigation group to clarify this serious event. The security cameras have been a key to this investigation, thanks to which it was possible to identify one of the aggressors and the vehicle with which they moved. Controls were carried out in various areas of Tirana with the aim of arresting them.
The police have not yet officially expressed the motives of the violence against the lawyer, but the main suspicions are that it is related to the duty. For months now, Sokol Mênjesi has been the legal defender of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha on the issue of the privatization of the former sports club "Partizani".
