The representative from the Civic Movement, Migen Qiraxhi, described as shameful the statement of the rector of the University of Tirana, Artan Hoxha, who did not accept the last ranking, where this university was listed only ten places away from the bottom of the table of universities in Europe .
In an interview for ABC News, Qiraxhi said that since 2020, the University of Tirana is in the last places.
According to Qiraxhi, there are no investments for scientific research at the university.
"It was frankly shameful, but also shocking the statement of the rector of the University of Tirana, alongside the Minister of Education, where he actually claims that this is a new complaint. So, this is the first time that this ranking has been made for the University of Tirana, and literally the rector said that when you are for the first time, it doesn't matter if you are up or down. The University of Tirana, surprisingly in the absence of knowledge of the record, has been part of this ranking since 2020. We do not say this, but this is what the most important document of the education strategy in our country says, which is called the National Education Strategy 2021-2026. The minister who was by the rector's side should at least turn around and understand that this is a ranking of an institution where the strategy and the Ministry of Education have qualified it as a prestigious ranking.
