The court has found guilty doctors Petrit Rexhepi and Elona Burba, accused of the death of Dorjana Haka, the wife of former Partizan goalkeeper Alban Hoxha, who lost her life in November 2014, two weeks after the birth of her first child.
Elona Burba, a resuscitator, was sentenced to 1 year in prison, which was converted into 2 years of probation, as well as a license suspension for a period of 2 years.
Petrit Rexhepi, a gynecologist, was sentenced to 6 months in prison, which was converted to 12 months of probation.
Meanwhile, the parents of the 25-year-old who died a few weeks ago said they have been waiting for justice for 11 years, emphasizing that "a child is growing up without a mother."
"We have been waiting for justice for 11 years. There was a confrontation between experts, a question and answer session. It lasted a little too long and I revolted and spoke out in the court session. I hope the judges take it into account. My soul burns, my heart aches. I hope for justice that is delayed but not forgotten. My child wants justice, a child who grows up without a mother wants justice. Please judge, look at me. I am right, that is why I asked to deal with the courts, nothing else. I simply want justice, justice without end," said Hamide Haka.
