Today the Board of Administration of Tirana University of Medicine has calculated the cost of a medical student.
In the board's decision, any student who does not fulfill the legal obligation to provide health service for 3 to 5 years in his country after his studies, will have to pay a fee of 240 thousand new leks for each year of study.
So approximately, a student, the entire period of study can cost nearly 15 thousand euros if he intends to go abroad. In short, it is more profitable to study privately than in the state.
By law, students must first sign an agreement with the government. According to this agreement, those who are admitted to the integrated study program of the second cycle "General Medicine" in public institutions of higher education, benefit from special treatment.
" He signs an agreement, before his registration as a winner in this program, which is concluded between him, the ministry responsible for education, the ministry responsible for health and the institution of public higher education to work in the profession of a doctor after completing his studies, for no less than 5 (five) years in health institutions in the Republic of Albania. Accepts the official transfer of the relevant higher education diploma from the public institution of higher education, where he completed his studies, to the health institution where he is employed, until the payment of employment obligations according to the 5 (five)-year term, with the right after fulfillment of the employment obligation to withdraw the university degree ", the law states.

Metodologjia për përcaktimin e kostos së studimeve për programin e integruar të studimit të ciklit të dytë “Mjekësi e Përgjithshme” në institucionet publike të arsimit të lartë dhe çdo mbështetje tjetër për studentët e këtij programi studimi përcaktohen me vendim të Këshillit të Ministrave”, thekson ligji.
