Bad weather hit our country yesterday, while the most alarming situation was in the Vlora district where intense rains caused major floods.

The 33 evacuated families spent the night away from their homes, while the Municipality of Vlora accommodated them in a dormitory. It is about at least 55 people in total from 33 families.

Meanwhile, streets and neighborhoods are still under water.

The break in the high water channel caused the water to flood through the city, the main business and residential districts, causing damage.

As never before, all the streets of the city were flooded and the neighborhoods were blocked where the water level reached 50-60 cm.

The water, like a stream of rivers passing through the streets, took with it whatever it came across, the chairs and tables of the bars, the garbage bins, displacing them in the Flag Square.

It is reported that many areas of the coastal city have been left without electricity, because the DSO has cut some wires to avoid any possible tragedy from contact with the current, the Ministry of Defense informs that the situation has improved in the evening hours.

"The situation in the city of Vlora is on the way to normalization. After the heavy rains in the second part of today, the intensity of the rains has decreased and, as a result, the water has also withdrawn", announced the Ministry.

In a video explaining the situation with the floods in Vlora, the Director of Preparedness and Emergency Response Coordination, Leonard Qyra, says that in just three hours, 180 millimeters of rain fell in the coastal city.

According to the Military Meteorological Service , about 180 mm of rain was recorded in 3 hours. In the meantime, 33 families (55 people) have been evacuated, who have been accommodated in dormitories by the Vlora Municipality ", says Qyra.
